I suspect this is the last Mac product I'll buy.

No chance of keeping it running into old age, really, or giving it a second life and gifting it to a college bound cousin in four years. I didn't want a 15 incher, and that's what I would have had to get anyway to drive the displays as I wished.Anyway, since it's not extensible it's also not really repairable after 3 years.

I wish they were extensible (can't imagine the speed gain from soldering to the logic board is worthy of note as long as you're using less than the max ram available), and one really wishes they provided a slight ram upgrade and graphics card for this form factor.

Why put 3 outputs if only two can be used? Sure the Retina display is nice (there's a github repo that lets me make full use of those pixels) but at 13 inches it's not impressive on it's own and it's deceptive inability to drive 3 displays while having 3 outputs was more than a little disappointing. For the price, not a bad buy.

I somehow missed the memo about the lack of extensibility (I thought that was Airs only) and finding out that the Pro could not do the task that elevated it above the Air regular Mac Book models I was considering (driving 3 displays) really blew my mind. Being unable to upgrade the ram later is a real pain. the card is rather gimpy and the speed doesn't leave one with the feeling one normally has handling a pro. The base model MBP doesn't deliver on the MBP brand speed with the base ram and graphics capability. Apple retains an excellent performance to size ratio which is why the Macbook Pro is so popular today. Noise is normally almost silent except when heavy video editing and games. The SSD is upgradeable (many videos on the internet explaining how) but Apple doesn't want you too so it won't be easy plus it will void the warranty. The RAM is soldered to the motherboard and non-removable. Expandability is perhaps the worst quirk of the Macbook Pro with Retina Display. Durability is great with the unibody metal enclosure. This screen is awesome and maybe one of the biggest selling points (hence the name.Macbook Pro with Retina Display) haha. The display is the best display I ever used with great viewing angles, high contrast, and popping colors. Battery life is great during web browsing and watching videos easily lasting more than 10 hours, but falls to only 2-3 hours during video editing and gaming. I didn't find my self using the new force touch trackpad at all. No dropped frames during video editing and gaming performance is reasonable with its Iris 6100 graphics. While it doesn't have the ultra thin design of the new Macbook or the battery life of the Macbook Air it has an incredible amount of power for its size. The Macbook Pro is in my opinion Apple's best laptop.
